Are you looking for a natural shampoo, but you are not sure which shampoo suits your hair type? Do not panic. We have listed six natural shampoos for you.
What is natural shampoo?
Natural shampoo contains natural ingredients that gently cleanse your hair. Natural shampoo often does not contain sulfates, silicones and parabens. Natural ingredients with a similar function are used instead. In addition, many natural shampoos are vegan (vegetable) and the packaging is often (partially or completely) made from recycled material.
What are sulfates, silicones and parabens?
Many regular shampoos contain sulfates, silicones and parabens. Sulphates, silicones and parabens each have their own function:
- Sulphatescleanse your hair and make shampoo lather. The most commonly used sulfates in shampoos are sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS) and sodium laureth sulphate (SLES).
- Siliconesleave a thin layer on each hair, making your hair appear shinier, thicker and healthier.
- Parabensare preservatives that ensure that shampoo stays good for a long time.
Are sulfates, silicones and parabens bad for your hair?
No, sulfates, silicones and parabens are not necessarily bad for your hair or your scalp. Many people do not suffer from it, but others do suffer from it. For example, do you suffer from a sensitive, itchy or dry scalp after washing? Then it is better to clean your hair with a shampoo without sulfates. Do you suffer from heavy, dull and difficult to comb hair? Then try a shampoo without silicone. Silicones leave a thin layer on each hair with each wash, which can result in heavy, dull strands.
